About Heather
For more than 30 years Heather’s education and teaching interests have centered around affordable housing, substance use, homelessness, and working with vulnerable populations.
Heather’s experience includes:
25 years presenting at conferences, staff training, and other public events,
creating and teaching a 36-hour course on homelessness and affordable housing,
developing and delivering a 36-hour course on substance use, including topics such as: harm reduction, minimal barriers, overdose prevention, stages of legalization, trauma-informed compassionate care, and more
over 15 years working with marginalized youth and adults,
23 years as Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).
Heather’s work combines direct service provision to vulnerable people as well as program development and teaching. Heather understands the big picture of your organizational vision and is skilled at presenting information in a relevant and interesting formal for anyone from front line staff through to board members, city councilors and more.
